Harley-Davidson Rental Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

Are you a Harley-Davidson Authorized Rental operator?
Yes, we are a Harley-Davidson Authorized Rental operator and Authorized H.D. Dealer.

Are the rental bikes current models?
All rentals are current and have been serviced and maintained by a Harley-Davidson Authorized Dealer and to H-D Motor Company Standards.

What kind of license do I need?
You must have a current and appropriate Motorcycle license - preferably an International but not necessary. Must have a proven history of riding experience on heavy motorcycles in the past 3 years.

How old do I have to be?
You must be 25 years or older.

What kind of Insurance is included?
Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance is included in the daily rate. This Policy covers the rental motorcycle, any other vehicle and/or property involved in the accident.

May I use my own helmet?
All Helmets worn by motorcyclists in New Zealand whilst riding a motorcycle on the road must have a "safety helmet of an approved type" in that it must comply with New Zealand Standard Specification NZS1215.

The fine for not having a "safety helmet of an approved type" will attract a fine of $NZ150.

Do you offer personal, property and/or accident Insurance?
No, all Personal, property and/or accident Insurance is the responsibility of the person renting the motorcycle. Vehicle Insurance only is included in the rental.

Do you have storage facilities?
Yes, there is storage facilities at the Dealership for any luggage not required on the trip.

How do I get from Auckland International airport to Hamilton?
We are offering a complimentary pick-up from Auckland International airport to Hamilton for a three or more day hire.

What hours are you open?
The dealership hours are 8am - 5.30pm Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm Saturday - after hours by appointment.

Can I rent a bike for part of a day?
Yes, but minimum hireage rate is one day - e.g. 9am - 4pm.

Do I have to be a HOG® member to rent with Harley-Davidson Authorized
Rentals?

No you do not have to be a HOG member.

Is this the same as the HOG Fly & Ride motorcycle rental program?
No, Harley-Davidson Authorized Rentals is a rental program open to all
qualified motorcyclists. HOG Fly & Ride is a different program only
available to HOG members.
